Equine Veterinary Nurse

Kelly and her faithful red cattle dog, Gem, moved to Canberra in 2011 after many years working on thoroughbred studs. She has worked around Australia and overseas in the US as a yearling supervisor, broodmare foreman and stud vet nurse.

Kelly has varied experience in the equine world, from dressage and eventing to training movie horses. Her love of harness horses has seen her work with hackneys at Sydney Royal and groom on Australian champion combined driving teams. With her extensive equine background, Kelly can be relied upon to help settle our patients who are a little nervous about being in hospital.

Kelly enjoys the challenges and opportunities that come with working at CEH and is happy to chat to you about all areas of equine!

Equine Veterinary Nurse

Kayla was born in Canberra and she basically grew up at Forest Park Riding School.

Before joining the CEH team in October 2013, Kayla had been working as a riding instructor at Forest park for 4 years. She especially loved to teach the younger children who had never ridden previously and watch their progress!

Kayla has also completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is always excited to be able to use these skills in caring for our patients.

Kayla enjoys many equine disciplines, and has a blast in the saddle whether it be jumping, endurance riding or eventing. Kayla’s current equine project is the beautiful paint mare Grace.

Equine Veterinary Nurse

Rebecca hails from Sydney, where she previously worked on thoroughbred studs and horse riding schools before developing in interest in the equine nursing field. In 2015 she graduated with a Certificate II in Animal Studies.

As a part of her studies she enjoyed a work placement at CEH, where the vets & nurses were impressed by her skills and managed to entice her to make the move to Canberra to join our growing team.

Rebecca has always had a passion for horses since owning her first horse at age 14. She likes to focus on dressage and looks forward to competing again in the future.

Rebecca is looking forward to learning new skills, facing the challenges of the veterinary industry and nursing out in the field and in the Equine Hospital.

Equine Veterinary Nurse

Megan and her red cattle dog named Ruben moved to Canberra from the Snowy Mountains in January 2017.

Growing up on her family’s farm, Megan has had the opportunity to work with a large variety of animals including sheep and cattle. She has even worked with Brumbies! Megan was previously a competitive show rider who travelled across the country to attend a wide variety of shows. Now she enjoys working with her new young Quarter Horse named Polly.

Before Megan joined the team at Canberra Equine Hospital she worked at a boarding house in Jindabyne as a part of one of the fantastic boarding schools in the area. She has also studied a Bachelor of Environmental Science at the University of Canberra before pursuing a career in veterinary nursing.

Megan is currently studying a certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has a passion for working specifically with horses. She thoroughly enjoys visiting clients and horses out in the field but also provides fantastic help and support for our client relations team.
