The term "colic" means only "pain in the abdomen" or "pain in the belly". There are many
causes for such pain, ranging from the mild and inconsequential to the life-threatening or
fatal. One of the problems with equine colic is that it can be very difficult in the early
stages to distinguish the mild from the potentially fatal. This is why all cases of abdominal

CEH is a modern,
state-of-the-art equine hospital. We have full surgical facilities and a wide
range of imaging technology. We also have stabling for horses that need
overnight hospitalisation.
The Hospital
We have an excellent stable facility where your horses will be comfortably
and carefully attended to. The hospital provides 24-hour intensive care for
horses that require it, nurses and vets are available at any time of the day
or night. This may be necessary if your horse needs intravenous fluids,
intensive medication or an emergency surgery. Our hospital facilities cater
for every need from ICU to a yard for the day.
