Olivia was born in
Sydney and grew up on a property near Gunnedah in NSW. After
completing her secondary schooling she worked as a polo groom in the
UK for a season and traveled around Europe. After enrolling in
veterinary science Olivia graduated from the University of Sydney
with honors in 2003 and then worked for three years in a mixed
practice in Dubbo. This was a true mixed practice with large numbers
of beef and dairy cattle, pleasure and performance horses, numerous
dogs and cats and the odd furry friend. She has been in the ACT
region since 2007, working first at Queanbeyan Veterinary Hospital
and then at Canberra Equine Hospital.
Olivia is passionate
about equine dentistry and also enjoys medicine, podiatry,
opthalmology and equine anaesthesia. She is currently studying for
Membership by examination for the Australian
College
of Veterinary Scientists in
Equine Dentistry in June of 2010 (currently there are only 6 College
Members of this Chapter in Australia, one of whom is her colleague Dr
Rebecca Walshe).
Olivia
is currently the President of the Australian Veterinary Association
ACT Division. She is an APAV (Accreditation Program for Australian
Veterinarians) member which entitles her to perform Market Assurance
Program (MAP) Audits for the control and prevention of Johnes Disease
in alpacas, cattle, goats and sheep.
Olivia
lives with her husband and two young sons on a property near
Gundaroo. They currently have two small ponies and two dogs to keep
them busy. On the first Sunday of each month she can be seen leading
said pony around in circles with a small child on its back.
